OPENING NIGHT OCTOBER FRIDAY THE 13TH 2017

The Hotel Monaco years.

A year of planning. Two weeks of rehearsals. Then a sold-out opening night. On Friday, October 13, 2017, Lee Terbosic brought 52 Up Close to Kimpton Hotel Monaco in downtown Pittsburgh.

2017 · The opening season

The first run spanned ten consecutive weekends and 52 performances, including a special Halloween show on October 31.

2018 · The return

The show returned on Friday, April 13 for a sold-out weekend and a season of 52 performances. The November 20 finale included news of Lee’s Discovery series, Houdini’s Last Secrets.

2019 · More impossible evenings

A sold-out February pop-up run included an all-ages matinee. Performances continued through spring and summer, closing with two shows on August 3.

2020–2021 · A different kind of close-up

The planned April 2020 return was interrupted by the pandemic. Lee brought 52 Up Close online for ten virtual performances to close the year. Live shows remained dark through 2021.

2022 · Back in the room

Live performances resumed on March 18. A nine-month run ended with a New Year’s Eve performance.

2023 · The story continues

The show returned in March for another six-month run of performances.

2026 → 2027 · The next celebration

New performances are being planned before New Year’s, on New Year’s Eve and after the holiday. Dates, showtimes and ticket details will be announced soon.

What began as a creative collaboration on the South Side continues as an intimate Pittsburgh experience: just 52 seats and a room full of possibilities.
